The Affected landmark/building
The worlds largest standing Buddha statue in the Sichuan Province of China is a sad victim of the acid rain terror that is plaguing China. Below you will see a before and after picture of the statue (Below)
The Leshan Giant Buddha was built in the 1st century C.E. The Statue was carved out of the hill which contains materials which react with the acid in the acid rain and the pH in the rain. The statue has been affected as the statue has gained noticeable spots and marks caused by acid rain. This is bad as the statue was a sign of good luck as it was started to be constructed in 713 to stop the turbulent waters that attacked shipping vessels so this may prove bad to Chinese sailors and locals.
