What is Acid Rain?
Acid rain is a form of rain where the pH levels of the rain go to a low level in highly acidic rain countries such as China and India. Acid rain is harmful to many things such as plants, animals, aquatic life and humans. Acid rain is formed by emission of chemicals such as nitrogen oxide and sulfur dioxide through the air. These chemicals have a reaction with the water molecules out in the atmosphere to produce deadly acids.
How is acid rain caused?
The main causes of acid rain in high acid rain countries are because of the nitrogen oxide produced by the cars and their exhaust. Some chemicals such as sulfur dioxide are produced by factories by but not limited to burning coal for energy sources and melting metals. These activities produce harmful chemicals like sulfur dioxide. That is why countries like India and China with huge populations have a lot of acid rain. This is because of the amount of cars and factories they have running in their respective countries. Acid rain can also be produced naturally as Sulfur dioxide and Nitrogen Oxide. Lightning and Volcanoes produce these chemicals. The diagrams below will help aid in my explanation/description.
